Adoption Applications

Thank you for your interest in giving a wonderful home to a Golden Retriever in need.

Due to the amount of surrendered and rehomed goldens that we came across in the past month, we decided to create a preadoption form for potential future adopters. There are many factors that we must consider before placing a dog into a forever home. Every Golden Retriever that we help has a different story. Some of them were mistreated or neglected, and some others simply need a new home as their owners, for specific reasons can’t have them anymore. Knowing this we must prioritize finding them the best homes for them vs. finding the perfect pet for you.
Before adopting please keep in mind that every dog will pass for an adaptation period in which this dog could have behaviors that are not the real personality of the dog. As an adopter is your DUTY to ensure in any way that they can get used to your new home, and provide if necessary the training to accomplish the wanted behavior for the adopted dog.
DO NOT APPLY IF
  •  If you are not ready for the commitment that implies owning a dog
  •  If you are not ready to take care of the dog for a period of 10 to 17 years
  • If you don’t have the economic and/ or physical  means to take care of the dog
  • If you are seeking a dog for breeding.
  • If you are not willing to work with the dog to give him a better life or improve any unwanted behavior that the dog may have due to his past.

Please know we do not operate on a first-come first-served basis but rather on which family is the best match for the dog.

We reserve the right to decline applicants who cannot meet the needs of our second-chance goldens. If after reviewing our application requirements you’re not sure you qualify, please email us prior to applying to [email protected]

After your application is received and reviewed by our Adoption team, the adoption manager assigned to your application will call you to discuss the process involved in adopting one of our dogs.  After that conversation, if applicable, the adoption manager will order a meet and greet with the dog that you want to adopt.  We are an organization staffed entirely by volunteers. Many of us have full-time jobs and families, plus dedicate our free time to helping needy goldens. Thank you in advance for your patience with this process.

The adoption process can take anywhere from one to six months, depending on the needs of the goldens we have in rescue and the specifics of your family situation. The more flexible you are about the kind of Golden you want to adopt, the less time the process may take.

Before applying please do a research on 3-3-3 rules for rescue and rehomed dogs.
