Adoption Applications
Thank you for your interest in giving a wonderful home to a Golden Retriever in need.
- If you are not ready for the commitment that implies owning a dog
- If you are not ready to take care of the dog for a period of 10 to 17 years
- If you don’t have the economic and/ or physical means to take care of the dog
- If you are seeking a dog for breeding.
- If you are not willing to work with the dog to give him a better life or improve any unwanted behavior that the dog may have due to his past.
Please know we do not operate on a first-come first-served basis but rather on which family is the best match for the dog.
We reserve the right to decline applicants who cannot meet the needs of our second-chance goldens. If after reviewing our application requirements you’re not sure you qualify, please email us prior to applying to [email protected]
After your application is received and reviewed by our Adoption team, the adoption manager assigned to your application will call you to discuss the process involved in adopting one of our dogs. After that conversation, if applicable, the adoption manager will order a meet and greet with the dog that you want to adopt. We are an organization staffed entirely by volunteers. Many of us have full-time jobs and families, plus dedicate our free time to helping needy goldens. Thank you in advance for your patience with this process.
The adoption process can take anywhere from one to six months, depending on the needs of the goldens we have in rescue and the specifics of your family situation. The more flexible you are about the kind of Golden you want to adopt, the less time the process may take.
- Live in the state of Florida. Out-of-state applicants will be accepted in special circumstances only in which this adopter will be a high benefit for the dog
- Be 18 or more years old
- All members of the household MUST agree with the adoption.
When adopting a dog from MGMC, a legally binding and enforced contract must be signed.
If at any time, you are unable to keep the pet, or unable to provide it with proper care, you must call MGMC and return the dog to US only, the adopter will not, under any circumstances, leave any of our dogs in the street, another rescue or shelter. The Adopter must give a 7-day notice to return a dog.
- If the dog for adoption was a rescue and fostered the dog, a fee may be applied, as we do not ask for donations of any kind. This will help to cover the expenses of the dogs. all fee goes to help the dogs.
- Golden retrievers under 2 years old CAN NOT be spayed (total hysterotomy, in which the uterus and ovary in females/ or testes in males are completely removed). Adopters may perform an Ovary-sparing hysterectomy (OSH) which is a gonad-sparing sterilization technique that will leave the female gonads functional and a Vasectomy in males. after 2 years old is MANDATORY any form of sterilization on any of our goldens that has not undergone one yet.
- If you live in a renter house or HOA or similar community you must provide proof of weight and breed permission for the landlord and HOA manager. Applicants who do not submit the form with permission will be dismissed for adoption.
